REYKJAVIK, ICELAND
41st INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN GAMES 2007

The 41st International Children Games will this time take place on the 20th – 25th of June in Reykjavik, Iceland. It is expected that the Games will bring together 1200 young athletes and coaches from cities around the world. As stated in the article 2 of the Statutes of the ICG the goal of the Games is to enable, develop and advance the meeting, understanding and friendship of students from different countries across the world, and to advance the Olympic idea.

Given the fact that the 2007 ICG policy is in line with our organization’s policy, we have put in our application request and expressed interest in participating in this wonderful event. Already, His Worship The Mayor of Nairobi city council, the Commissioner of Sports and The Kenya National Sports Council has given The Kenya National Children Games Federation letters of no objection and consented positively to our participation. We now look forward to the organizers’ formal invitation.

Nairobi city participated in the 39th ICG Games in Coventry city, England and also in the just concluded 40th ICG Games in Thailand, Bangkok. Nairobi city has also placed its BID to Host this inaugural event in the near future.

One Jackson Ochieng Okoth, currently The Secretary General, Founder and CEO of The Kenya National Children Games Federation first founded the idea of Kenyans participating in International Children Games here in Kenya.

CLEVELAND, OHIO - USA
2007 KELME CONTINENTAL CUP- INTERNATIONALYOUTH SOCCER

PREPARATIONS HAS ALREADY BEGUN FOR OUR PARTICIPATION IN THE 2007 KELME CONTINENTAL CUP

In 2006 The Greater Cleveland Sports Commission embarked on an adventurous project creating an International Youth Soccer Tournament. Truly speaking, the first year was a great success. The cup attracted well over 60 of the United States of America’s top soccer teams ranging from Colorado to Pennsylvania.  More importantly, eight international teams made their first trip to Cleveland from India, Guatemala and Mexico’s power house, the Chivas.  Kenya’s Nairobi city was officially represented by Chairman of This Federation, Mr. John Owuor Omole.

Preparations for the 2007 Kelme Continental cup have already begun with the hiring of George M. Nanchoff as the new Tournament Coordinator. From a player to coach, George has been strongly involved in the local USA Local Community Soccer for many years and brings with him many years experience both on and off the field. Throughout his youth, George has gained valuable knowledge while playing in many of the top youth soccer tournaments in the United States and also around the world. George continued his soccer career at the University of Dayton, where he played all four years while majoring in business marketing.

This exciting International Youth Soccer Tournament will take place 4th – 8th July, 2007 proudly
Represented by 119 culturally diverse heritages and neighborhoods. Held in Seville, Ohio, boys and girls from 10-19 years of age will be participating in four days of outstanding soccer competition. Along with
world class competition, there will be an Olympic-style Opening Ceremonies, Disco Dance Party, and free tickets to Cedar Point Amusement Park, the world’s best amusement park.

Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, just like The Kenya National Children Games Federation, is a non-profit making organization tasked with creating economic and community development through sports events. Established in 2000, the Sports Commission has been responsible for attracting and/or managing 58 events including Gravity Games and next year’s NCAA Women’s Final Four, as well as such Olympic sanctioned events as the International Children’s Games, U.S. Gymnastics Championships and the USA Boxing Olympic Trials.

Recruitment process is already underway with international contacts identified in numerous countries around the world. In addition, the organizers are in the process of bringing together the top soccer clubs in Northeast Ohio. With the support of their local community, Greater Cleveland Sports Commission is confident that this will be one of the elite international youth soccer tournaments in the USA! Continental Cup participants from around the world will be able to take part in elite soccer competition while enjoying all that the City of Cleveland has to offer.

The Kenya National Children Games Federation has received its official Invitation and is already working round the clock in collaboration with Nairobi city schools and youth soccer clubs to enable us send a team to participate in this wonderful inaugural event that will surely help improve youth soccer standards in the country. We appreciate the high response that Nairobi city teams have so far shown in their bid to participate in this event and we promise a very fair selection for the teams that will be finally selected. For the Teams that will finally be selected, we appeal that they adhere and respect our city’s Participation Timeline in order for us to be within the Schedule.

We look forward to our participation in this world class soccer extravaganza that will also earn our teams greatly varied experience; much thanks to the organizers and sponsors of this great event as we wish them the best of success and Good Luck!
